GPT-6 Sol

GPT-6 Sol is the GPT-6 model I would build on first: strong enough for difficult tasks and cheap enough to run many iterations. OpenAI released it in September 2026, below the flagship Astra and above the fast Luna, and says it trained Sol and Luna with methods similar to Astra's to bring those gains to faster, cheaper models.

If you already use the OpenAI SDK, only the base URL and key change.

Settings and limits

• Context window: 1,050,000 tokens; replies up to 128K tokens.
• That fits a large codebase or several hundred pages in one call, but long prompts cost more, so cut what the model does not need.
• The rate is visible before you send, and usage comes off a balance that never expires.
• To escalate, change the model field to GPT-6 Astra; no other code changes.
