For shots of up to 10 seconds, Gemini Omni 1.1 is the budget pick, and it is also the only one of the two that renders 4K. Seedance 2.5 costs several times more, but in exchange it produces one continuous shot of up to 30 seconds, mixes dozens of references and can extend or edit footage you already have. In my own scoring Omni finished ahead.
When to pick Gemini Omni 1.1
- You need short 4-10 s shots and the budget is tight.
- The deliverable must be 4K, which Seedance 2.5 does not offer.
- You want to drop a character from a photo into a new scene, or restyle your own clip.
- The character speaks a language other than English. In my Polish test Omni (Google calls it Gemini Omni Flash 1.1) read a difficult sentence with no mistakes.
When to pick Seedance 2.5
- The scene has to run 15-30 s without cuts.
- You have a dozen photos of the same product or person to keep consistent.
- A finished clip needs a few more seconds.
- The format is square 1:1 or wide 21:9.
Differences you will notice
- Duration. Gemini Omni 1.1 offers 4, 6, 8 or 10 s. Seedance 2.5 goes from 4 to 30 s in one-second steps.
- Cost. Omni bills per clip by length and resolution, from $1.02 per video for a 6 s clip. Seedance bills per second, from $0.261 per second at 720p. For 10 s at 720p Seedance costs roughly four times as much, and at 1080p the gap is bigger still. Even Seedance at 480p for 10 s costs more than a 10 s Omni clip at 1080p.
- Resolution and format. Omni: 360p (billed like 720p), 720p, 1080p and 4K, in 16:9 or 9:16. Seedance 2.5: 480p, 720p and 1080p, in 7 aspect ratios including 1:1 and 21:9.
- Input material. Omni takes 1 or 3 images, or a single clip of up to 30 s. Seedance 2.5 takes up to 30 images, 10 clips and 10 audio tracks, and allows real people with their consent.
- Editing. Both can rework footage (Omni through a reference clip), but only Seedance 2.5 extends a clip. Seedance also bills the seconds of clips you pass in
video_urls, and Omni's reference-clip mode has a flat price per job.
How to decide
In my video ranking on the Polish blog Omni scored 8/10 and Seedance 2.5 6.5/10. Seedance made the nicer coffee shot (8 against 7) but mangled more than half of a Polish sentence. Those runs were done with other providers. My rule: up to 10 s or 4K - Omni; longer single takes, lots of references or extensions - Seedance. Studio shows the exact price before you click Generate. More detail is in Gemini Omni API and the Seedance 2.5 API guide.
Questions
Can I get a 30-second video out of Omni?
No. Output stops at 10 s. The 30 s figure applies only to a reference clip you send in, not to what you get back.
Which one holds a character's look better?
Seedance 2.5 can take far more material, up to 30 images against 1 or 3 in Omni. I have not tested character consistency in this pair, so try a short clip with your own references first.
What if a clip comes out broken?
A failed generation costs nothing, and the held amount returns to your balance in full.
