Charged from a prepaid USD balance, no taxes added. Kling 3.0: extras like audio or pro mode raise the price; Studio and estimated_cost give the exact figure first. A failed generation is $0.

For single shots of up to 15 seconds, Kling 3.0 is the cheaper tool, and it adds 4K and optional dialogue. Seedance 2.5 is the expensive specialist for long takes of up to 30 seconds, heavy reference work and edits of existing footage. If you need neither 30 seconds nor editing, Kling does the job at a fraction of the cost per second.

When to pick Kling 3.0

  • A campaign shot must be 4K, or you want room to reframe later.
  • You make short 5-10 s reels and every second is on the budget.
  • An English dialogue scene needs lip sync.
  • The shot is silent because music goes on in the edit.

When to pick Seedance 2.5

  • An ad or scene should run 20-30 s with no stitched cuts.
  • A music video keeps one performer across shots, built from a dozen photos.
  • A clip ends too soon and needs extending, or part of a recording needs changing.
  • The format is a wide 21:9.

Differences you will notice

  • Price per second. Kling 3.0 is billed at from $0.0963 per second and Seedance 2.5 at from $0.261 per second (720p). Seedance costs several times more at 720p and 1080p, whether or not Kling's audio is on. Watch the add-ons: clips in Seedance's video_urls are billed on top, and Kling's audio raises its 720p and 1080p rates.
  • Length. Kling runs 3-15 s. Seedance 2.5 runs 4-30 s in one pass, and duration: -1 lets it pick the length.
  • Resolution. Kling renders 720p, 1080p and 4K. Seedance 2.5 stops at 1080p but adds a 480p tier for drafts.
  • References and editing. Kling takes 2 images plus a first and last frame and only makes new shots. Seedance 2.5 takes up to 30 images, 10 clips and 10 audio tracks, accepts real people with consent, and can edit or extend a finished video.
  • Sound and frame. Seedance creates speech, effects and music (mono) by default; in Kling you turn on dialogue yourself at a higher rate. Seedance offers 7 ratios, including 21:9 and 4:3; Kling offers 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1.

How to decide

Look at the length and the inputs. A typical 5-15 s reel goes to Kling at 1080p or 4K. One unbroken take past 15 s, a big set of reference photos, or an edit of existing footage goes to Seedance 2.5. In my tests on the Polish blog Seedance 2.5 gave a solid coffee pour (8/10) but was the weakest of ten models at a spoken Polish sentence, and Kling was weak at Polish too (ranking). Details for each model are in Kling 3.0 API pricing and the Seedance 2.5 API guide.

Questions

What does a full 30-second Seedance clip cost?

Thirty seconds at the rate of your chosen resolution; from $0.261 per second is the 720p default. Studio and estimated_cost show the total up front, and a failed run costs nothing.

I need 4K from ByteDance. What are my options?

Seedance 2.5 tops out at 1080p. For 4K use Seedance 2.0, or Kling 3.0 from Kuaishou.

Which keeps the same person across many shots?

Seedance 2.5 is built for that, with up to 30 reference images. Kling's 2 references cover a simple look, not a whole cast.
