Budgeting a Kling 3.0 Ad Test: How Many Variants You Can Afford
Plan a Kling 3.0 ad test budget: count shots and attempts, compare 5 and 10 second clips, include audio and rejected takes, and stop at a set limit.
The money for an ad test goes into more than the clips that make the final cut. Every take that renders correctly is paid for, including the ones your editor throws out. A "succeeded" status only means the file was delivered, not that it is good. That is why I keep two numbers apart: how many clips the ad needs, and how many attempts I allow to get them.
The one formula to write down
Number of final shots × maximum attempts per shot = your request limit.
Example: an ad of 4 shots with up to 3 attempts each means 12 requests at most. Multiply that by the clip length and the per-second rate of Kling 3.0 (from $0.0963 per second) and you have the ceiling for the test.
Choosing length and audio
- Explore the idea with a short supported clip. A 5-second take shows whether the concept works.
- In the cost calculator, compare 5 and 10 seconds at the same resolution so the numbers are comparable.
- Price audio on its own line. Mixing estimates with and without sound makes the budget useless.
- Keep resolution the same across all estimates.
Running the test
- Change one element of the prompt per attempt: the light, the camera move or the background. Changing three at once tells you nothing.
- Give each output a label: usable, needs a fix, or rejected, with a short reason ("logo bends", "move too fast").
- When you hit the limit, stop. A new brief gets a new budget decision, not a few extra tries.
- Download the accepted clips and note their settings. Result links are temporary, not storage.
A starting request body for POST /v1/generate:
{
"model": "kling-3.0",
"input": {
"prompt": "A ceramic mug on a dark studio table, slow camera push, warm side light, no text",
"duration": 5
}
}Three checks before you approve the budget
- The attempt limit is set before the first render.
- Every estimate uses the same audio and resolution settings.
- Your notes separate failed jobs (free) from successful takes that did not fit (paid).
What Kling 3.0 costs
The current rate is from $0.0963 per second. The pricing page lists all tiers. The balance never expires, there is no subscription, and failed jobs are refunded to the balance. For a wider look at Kling rates, see Kling 3.0 API pricing.
Questions
Do I pay for a clip I decided not to use?
Yes, if it rendered successfully. Only failed generations are free.
Is it cheaper to test at 10 seconds and cut later?
Usually not. You pay for every second rendered, so testing at 5 seconds and extending only the winner keeps the test smaller.
Where can I see every Kling 3.0 setting?
On the Kling 3.0 model page and in the generate docs.
What a clip costs
Kling 3.0. Without audio, resolution in each row. Different settings, different price.
| Length | Resolution | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| 5 s | 720p | $0.481 |
| 10 s | 720p | $0.963 |
