Charged from a prepaid USD balance, no taxes added. Kling 3.0: extras like audio or pro mode raise the price; Studio and estimated_cost give the exact figure first. A failed generation is $0.

I reach for Kling 3.0 when shot lengths vary anywhere from 3 to 15 seconds, when the post is square, or when I need inexpensive short takes in 720p or 1080p. Veo 3.1 suits edits assembled from uniform 8-second blocks, prompts that run long, and dialogue in less widely spoken languages. One model charges by the second and the other by the clip, so how long your shot is drives most of the bill.

When to pick Kling 3.0

  • Your reels use 3-6 second cutaways, and paying for a full 8 would be waste.
  • A take should last past 8 seconds, as long as 15.
  • The feed wants 1:1, or the shot travels from a fixed opening frame to a fixed closing one.
  • An English line needs mouth movement that matches.

When to pick Veo 3.1

  • The description you want to give runs past 2,500 characters.
  • The trailer or spot is built from identical 8-second units.
  • Someone speaks a less common language; Veo handled that better for me.
  • Up to three images should guide the frames of one shot.

Differences you will notice

  • How you pay. Kling 3.0 charges from $0.0963 per second, a rate per second; Veo 3.1 (Quality) charges from $2.53 per video for each finished clip. A 4-second Kling take is a small slice of one Veo clip. The table above prices 5 s and 10 s for every tier, which is the fastest comparison.
  • Duration. Kling lets you choose any whole number of seconds from 3 to 15. Veo on this site is locked to 8 seconds, billed as a single clip.
  • Sound. Kling speaks with lip sync and adds ambience once generate_audio is true, which raises its 720p and 1080p rates; 4K costs the same either way. Veo has neither a sound toggle nor a sound fee.
  • Framing and prompt. Kling handles opening and closing frames, offers 1:1 and caps prompts at 2,500 characters. Veo uses as many as three pictures as frames, sticks to 16:9 and 9:16 and allows 4,000 characters.
  • Non-English dialogue. For my video model ranking I gave both a tough Polish tongue twister. Veo 3.1 got it almost word-perfect; Kling 3.0 Pro garbled ten of twelve words, and Polish is missing from the languages Kling officially supports for speech. In English, Kling was flawless.

How to decide

Think about your timeline first. When everything is cut in 8-second blocks, Veo's flat price is simple to budget and nothing gets trimmed away. When shot lengths vary or stay short, paying per second favors Kling, and only Kling does square. For 4K, read both 4K rows in the table, because Kling's 4K rate is far above its 1080p one. Questions

Can Veo give me a 5-second shot?

Not on its own, because every Veo clip is 8 seconds. Cut it down in your editor, or render the short take in Kling, which can go as low as 3.

Is a test clip worth it before a batch?

Yes. Render one take of the real scene in each model, since the look depends heavily on the subject. If a render fails, you are not charged.

Where do I see what 8 seconds of Kling will cost?

Choose resolution and sound in Studio and the price appears on the Generate button. Over the API, read estimated_cost.
