For one image that really counts, I would use Nano Banana Pro: it scored highest in my test and kept the rest of a photo more intact during edits. GPT Image 2.5 is the everyday tool: noticeably cheaper, one price whatever the quality or size, and just as dependable with text in the picture.

When to pick Nano Banana Pro

  • A cover, poster or campaign key visual where the single best result matters.
  • Retouching a product photo when everything outside the change must stay as it was.
  • Files at 4K for print or further work.
  • Formats such as 21:9, 4:5 and 5:4.

When to pick GPT Image 2.5

  • A run of blog or social graphics on a budget.
  • Fixed sizes: 1024x1024, 1536x1024 or 1024x1536, all at one rate.
  • Projects with up to 16 references.
  • Rendering at max quality without paying more.

Differences you will notice

  • Price. GPT Image 2.5 costs $0.05 per image regardless of quality (from low to max), size or references. Nano Banana Pro costs from $0.07 per image at 1K and 2K, about 1.7x more, and a little more at 4K.
  • Quality. On the same five prompts Nano Banana Pro scored 9.0/10, GPT Image 2.5 8.5 at high and 8.6 at max. Both got a Polish sign with four accented letters right.
  • Editing. In a test with five changes in one prompt, Nano Banana Pro altered the untouched areas less (SSIM 0.942) than the Sunburst tier of GPT Image 2.5 (0.870). The standard tier, gpt-image-2.5, was not part of that measurement.
  • Size. Pro: 1K, 2K, 4K in 10 ratios from 21:9 to 9:16. GPT Image 2.5: three sizes or auto, custom sizes not yet available in Kadraris.
  • Shared. 32,000-character prompts, one image per request. References: 14 in Pro, 16 in GPT Image 2.5, with no extra charge in either.

How to decide

  • One important visual, sensitive edits or 4K: Nano Banana Pro.
  • Volume work in standard sizes: GPT Image 2.5.

Timings through another API were close: Pro about 19 s, GPT Image 2.5 about 18 s at high and 38 s at max. For 4K from OpenAI use GPT Image 2. A wider comparison with FLUX.2 is in GPT Image 2.5 vs Nano Banana Pro vs FLUX.2; rates on /pricing.

Questions

Is max quality in GPT Image 2.5 worth using?

Yes, if you can wait. It costs the same as lower settings and scored slightly higher in my test, but took about twice as long.

Which model should edit a client's product photo?

Nano Banana Pro, based on my measurement. Pass the photo in image_urls and describe only the change.

How long can the text in an image be?

Both handled short accented lines in every attempt. For longer copy, check each line before you publish.
