Mini is the budget version of Seedance 2.0 and accepts the same inputs: a prompt, an opening photo, start and end frames, or a reference set of 9 images, 3 clips and 3 audio files. Resolution for resolution it is roughly 4.3x cheaper, with two catches: a 720p ceiling and no sound unless you ask. I use Mini for drafts, backgrounds and clips that get my own soundtrack, and the full Seedance 2.0 for 1080p, 4K, built-in sound and real people.

When to pick Seedance 2.0

  • Ads and music videos delivered at 1080p or 4K.
  • A reel where speech and effects come from the model.
  • Footage of a real person built from references, with consent.
  • The final version, after the prompt has been tested in Mini.

When to pick Seedance 2.0 Mini

  • Iterating on a prompt at 480p.
  • Moving backgrounds and B-roll that will be scored anyway.
  • Shop listings where product photos start to move, at 720p.
  • Large volumes of short clips, where the per-second rate drives the whole budget.

Differences you will notice

  • Price. Seedance 2.0 costs from $0.157 per second and Seedance 2.0 Mini from $0.0784 per second at 720p, a gap of about 4.3x at 480p and 720p. Even at 480p the full model charges about double Mini's 720p rate, and at 1080p around 10.7x.
  • Resolution. Full: 480p, 720p, 1080p, 4K. Mini: 480p and 720p.
  • Sound. On by default in the full model, off in Mini until generate_audio: true.
  • Length. Both make 4-15 s; only the full model takes duration: -1, holding funds for 15 s and settling at the delivered length.
  • Real people and framing. Real-person references work only in the full model. Its default ratio is adaptive, Mini's is 16:9. Shared: first and last frame, 7 ratios including 21:9, 20,000-character prompts, billed clip seconds.

How to decide

  • Silent, 720p or less, many takes: Mini.
  • Sound, 1080p or more, or a real person: the full Seedance 2.0.

I refine prompts in Mini at 480p and move to the full model just for the keeper. In my video ranking the full model took first place with 8.5/10 for the coffee scene, while its Polish dialogue came out badly garbled. Mini has not been through my tests. Questions

What settings should I copy when moving from Mini to the full model?

Set aspect_ratio and generate_audio by hand in both, because their defaults differ. The rest of the fields are the same.

Is the full model's 480p cheaper than Mini's 720p?

No. At 480p the full model still charges about twice Mini's 720p rate.

Should I use the full model for non-English dialogue?

Test first. My Polish line came back garbled, so render one spoken clip before a batch.
