Which AI Video Generator to Use in 2026 - My Scores for 12 Models

Best AI video generator for 2026 by my September scores: twelve models from Google, xAI, MiniMax, Alibaba, ByteDance and Kuaishou, with cost notes.

Asking for the single best AI video generator is like asking for the best lens: it depends on the shot. In two rounds of tests I ran in late September, Grok Imagine Video 1.5 had the top average (8.5 out of 10), the Veo 3.1 family produced the nicest-looking footage, and Grok 1.5 together with MiniMax H3 handled non-English speech best. For quick, low-cost checks of a prompt I start with Wan 3.0 (from $0.0777 per second) at 480P, and for 4K I usually reach for Veo 3.1 Fast (from $0.354 per video). Below: my scoring method, the table, a shortlist by task, a card for each model, and cost examples.

How the grades were made

I did not run these through Kadraris. Both rounds used the APIs of two other providers, so the waiting times and bills I saw there tell you nothing about this site.

Round one, 26-27 September (Polish write-up). Six models, Veo 3.1 Fast, Wan 3.0, Seedance 2.0 Fast and Kling 3.0 Standard among them, each got two English prompts: a pour of coffee, and a Warsaw tram on a rainy evening. Clips were 4 seconds long (5 for Wan 3.0, its minimum there), widescreen, one attempt and no rerolls. From each clip I pulled five frames and graded them from 0 to 10 for how closely they followed the prompt, believable physics, visual glitches, and the soundtrack.

Round two, 28 September (Polish write-up). The coffee prompt came back, joined by a speech task: a woman seated at a table recites a well-known Polish tongue twister about a beetle in the reeds and finishes with an amount in złoty. Settings were 5 seconds, widescreen, 720p, sound enabled, the same seed wherever possible, one attempt. A few models could not match that: both MiniMax H3 variants ran at 768p, Kling 3.0 Turbo Pro at 1080p, and Veo 3.1 has no 5-second option, so it made a 4-second coffee and a 6-second speech clip. I transcribed each spoken line with two faster-whisper models (large-v3 and medium) and counted how many of the 12 words were wrong. The final grade averages the coffee and the speech.

Keep three limits in mind. Two clips per model is a hint, not proof. The grades reflect my taste, shaped by mostly vertical shorts and quick product shots. And the two rounds used different prompts, so an 8.0 from one date is not exactly an 8.0 from the other.

\* My provider listed H3 Max with other specs than Kadraris does. Here the model offers 480P and 768P, and its catalog entry mentions no soundtrack. The grade is for the version I actually ran.

Prices marked "from" start at the smallest resolution and go up with each tier. Two models charge per clip (Veo 3.1 and Gemini Omni); the rest charge per second. Every tier is listed on the pricing page.

Shortlist by task

  • Checking a prompt for little money: Wan 3.0 at 480P, clips from 2 seconds. The catalog also has Seedance 2.0 Mini, PixVerse V6, Grok Imagine 1.0 Video and the flat-priced 8 s Veo 3.1 Lite (from $0.177 per video); I did not test those, so compare their rates yourself.
  • The best-looking picture: Veo 3.1 (Quality) (Quality). Its Fast sibling made the best coffee shot of 27 September (8.5).
  • Sound and dialogue from a still: Grok Imagine Video 1.5, the 28 September winner. On Kadraris it always needs a starting image.
  • 4K: Veo 3.1 Fast, 8.0 in my test. Compare its 8-second 4K price with the 4K tiers of the other models before a big job.
  • Speech that is not English: Grok Imagine Video 1.5 (a flawless tongue twister) or MiniMax H3 (a single slip, works without any image, stereo sound every time).
  • Scenes up to 30 s built from references: Seedance 2.5.
  • English dialogue, square 1:1, start and end frames: Kling 3.0.

All of them sit behind one balance in the AI video generator.

Model cards

Veo 3.1 (Quality, Fast, Lite)

  • Specs on Kadraris: Veo 3.1 (Quality), Veo 3.1 Fast and Veo 3.1 Lite from Google. Clip length is always 8 s; you choose horizontal or vertical and 720p, 1080p or 4K. The prompt limit is 4,000 characters. Up to three frames can guide Quality and Fast, while Lite takes a prompt and nothing else.
  • In my rounds: Fast got 8.0 on 27 September, thanks to the strongest coffee of the day (8.5, with a convincing stream, rising liquid and steam) held back by a tram that rushed through the frame (7.5). Full Veo 3.1 got 8.0 for both tasks on 28 September. The bigger transcription model stumbled on the opening word of its line; the smaller one got everything.
  • How I use it: Fast for 4K. When I wrote this, its 8-second 4K clip was priced below 8 seconds of 4K from Wan 3.0, Kling 3.0 or Veo 3.1 Quality. Quality I save for the first frame of an ad, the one viewers study. Sound is not switchable in the Kadraris Veo form, so do not read my speech grade as a promise.
Veo 3.1 Fast frame from my test: steaming coffee poured into a white cup in a ray of sun
My test, 27 Sep 2026: Veo 3.1 Fast made the best coffee shot, 8.5/10
Veo 3.1 Fast frame from my test: red and yellow tram on wet cobbles at dusk, umbrellas on the pavement
My test, 27 Sep 2026: tram colours and reflections right, movement too fast, 7.5/10

Grok Imagine Video 1.5

  • Specs on Kadraris: image-to-video only. One picture in image_url is required; for pure text, the older Grok Imagine 1.0 Video exists. Length 6-15 s, 480p or 720p, horizontal, vertical or square. Sound, dialogue included, is created together with the picture, and the prompt can be 10,000 characters.
  • In my rounds: first place on 28 September with 8.5 (coffee 8.0, speech 9.0). Both transcription models wrote out the tongue twister without a single wrong word. The coffee shot included a glass carafe, rising steam and rays of light.
  • How I use it: speaking portraits and moving album art. Because my run used another provider, a single clip with your own photo is a sensible first step.

Wan 3.0

  • Specs on Kadraris: from Alibaba. One pass gives you anywhere from 2 to 30 s, at resolutions from 480P to 4K. Audio is generated unless generate_audio: false is sent. Reference limits are 10 pictures, 5 videos and 5 sound files, and a prompt may reach 20,000 characters.
  • In my rounds: 7.75 both times. The tram scene had the finest reflections on wet stone of anything I generated, but Wan slipped in music nobody requested. Two of the twelve Polish words came out wrong. It was also the model I waited longest for, nearly three minutes a clip.
  • How I use it: a 2-second minimum plus a low 480P rate makes it my first stop when I want to know if an idea survives contact with a model. Once it does, the prompt moves to the model and size I will publish in.
Producer sample: Alibaba (alibabacloud.com, Model Studio)

MiniMax H3 and H3 Max

  • Specs on Kadraris: MiniMax H3 renders 4-15 s at 768P or 2K, always with stereo sound that the prompt describes. It takes first and last frames, plus references: 9 pictures, 3 videos and 3 sound tracks at most. With no image attached, an explicit aspect ratio is required. MiniMax H3 Max is the stripped-down sibling: 5-15 s at 480P or 768P, prompt or frames, no references and no 2K.
  • In my rounds: H3 earned 7.25. Its coffee was the weak half (6.5); the Polish sentence had one wrong word right at the start and nothing wrong after it. H3 Max earned 8.25 with a perfect transcript, though my provider described it with different specs than the Kadraris catalog.
  • How I use it: H3 is where non-English dialogue goes when I have no opening frame. For H3 Max, render one sample before you build a series on it.

Seedance 2.5 and Seedance 2.0 Fast

  • Specs on Kadraris: ByteDance's Seedance 2.5 gives 4-30 s at 480p, 720p or 1080p, with mono voice, sound effects and music. Its reference budget is generous (30 pictures, 10 videos, 10 sound tracks), it can edit or lengthen a video you already have, and it accepts seed. The older Seedance 2.0 Fast covers 4-15 s at 480p or 720p for less.
  • In my rounds: Seedance 2.5 drew a lovely image on 28 September (coffee 8.0, a heavy, realistic stream) and then lost the speech task at 5.0, since the bigger transcription model got 7 of the 12 words wrong. Its 6.5 average tied for the bottom. Seedance 2.0 Fast got 7.5 on 27 September: a smooth camera move towards the cup, and a tram painted cream when I asked for yellow.
  • How I use it: long takes, music videos and projects with many references, with any non-English voice recorded on its own. English dialogue was outside my test. For start frames I use ByteDance's image model Seedream, a different product with a similar name; see Seedance vs Seedream.
Seedance 2.0 Fast frame from my test: coffee going into a white cup on a wooden table
My test, 27 Sep 2026: Seedance 2.0 Fast, a good push-in but unrequested music, 8.0/10
Kling 3.0 frame from my test: tram in a wet street by daylight
My test, 27 Sep 2026: Kling 3.0, a convincing tram in the wrong colour and no dusk, 6.5/10
Producer sample: ByteDance (byteplus.com), up to 30 s in one generation

Kling 3.0

  • Specs on Kadraris: Kuaishou's Kling 3.0 renders 3-15 s, horizontal, vertical or square, at 720p, 1080p or 4K. Voice with lip sync is opt-in through generate_audio: true. A first frame goes in image_url and a last frame in end_image_url.
  • In my rounds: the weakest of the major models. The Standard variant got 6.75 on 27 September, crisp but careless with colour and light. On 28 September the Turbo Pro variant mangled the Polish line: 4 wrong words by the bigger transcription model, 7 by the smaller. On Kadraris, Kling 3.0 Turbo generates silent clips anyway.
  • How I use it: square video, morphs from one frame to another, and brief English scenes.

My test, 28 Sep 2026: Kling 3.0 Turbo, mouth movement fine, Polish pronunciation not

Gemini Omni 1.1 and FLUX 3 Video

Both landed on 8.0 on 28 September, and neither had trouble with Polish.

  • Gemini Omni 1.1 (Google): clips of 4, 6, 8 or 10 s between 360p and 4K. Input can be a prompt, one or three pictures, or a source video of 30 s at most. The transcript was perfect; the coffee scored 7.0, with the liquid rising and the camera moving closer. Kadraris does not list audio for it, so try speech on one clip.
  • FLUX 3 Video (Black Forest Labs): 5-20 s at 720p or 1080p, sound written into the file, as many as 10 keyframes, and the option to continue an existing clip along with its audio. One transcription model flagged one wrong word; coffee 7.5.

Pricing a clip

The amounts fill in from the live price list in USD. These examples use the lowest resolution:

What you makeMath
5 s Wan 3.0 draft, 480P5 × from $0.0777 per second
8 s talking portrait, Grok Imagine Video 1.5, 480p8 × from $0.088 per second
three takes of a 6 s line, MiniMax H3, 768P18 × from $0.161 per second
15 s short, Seedance 2.5, 480p15 × from $0.261 per second
5 s silent shot, Kling 3.0, 720p5 × from $0.0963 per second
24 s teaser from three Veo 3.1 Fast clips3 × from $0.354 per video
one hero shot in Veo 3.1 Quality1 × from $2.53 per video

Kling with sound and every higher resolution cost more. The AI cost calculator handles any combination, and both Studio and the estimated_cost field of the API show the price before a job starts. A failed generation costs $0. You can start with $10, nothing renews by itself, and unspent funds stay on the account.

Budgeting shorts in more depth: cost per second of AI video. Parameters for every model: the video API comparison. Leaving a specific app? There are separate guides on replacing Sora 2, Runway, Pika and Higgsfield.

My production order

  1. A 480P Wan clip a few seconds long shows me if the idea holds up.
  2. Dialogue outside English is handed to H3 when I only have words, or to Grok 1.5 when I have a picture to animate. My full speech findings sit in the Polish speech guide.
  3. Silent material for the finished cut comes from one of the two upper Veo tiers, and anything long comes from Seedance 2.5.
  4. Since Kadraris Studio bills all of them from a single balance, swapping is just a different choice in the model menu, or a different value in the API request.

Two prompt habits save me reshoots. I state colours and time of day twice, and when something on wheels moves, I ask for a locked-off camera on a tripod. More phrasing tricks: camera moves for AI video; for slow, creepy pacing: horror prompts for Halloween.

Questions

Which model should I use for a talking clip in a language other than English?

Three models produced a perfect Polish transcript for me: Grok 1.5, H3 Max and Gemini Omni Flash 1.1. H3 and FLUX 3 Video each missed one word, while Seedance and Kling garbled most of the line. Your language may behave differently, so render one clip first.

Why does Grok Imagine Video 1.5 ask me for an image?

On Kadraris it is an image-to-video model and needs exactly one picture in image_url. If you only have a text prompt, use Grok Imagine 1.0 Video, or generate a start frame first with an image model.

Can I trust these scores for my own clips on Kadraris?

Treat them as a direction. I ran the tests through other providers, and a few variants are set up differently on Kadraris. One test clip on your own prompt is worth more than my average.

Which models here can output 4K?

Every Veo 3.1 tier, plus Kling 3.0, Wan 3.0 and Gemini Omni 1.1. Each model page and the calculator show what its 4K tier costs.
